Carpet Cleaning Tips For Dog Owners
If your dog has left you a nice little present, here’s a few things you can do.
1. If the urine is still fresh, get hold of a towel, fold it in two and lay it across the stain so it can absorb as much urine as possible. Try not to use paper towels as these are costly and can’t be reused. Repeat this step until you can’t extract any more urine from the carpet.
2. If the stain has actually dried, mix three parts watrm water and 1 part vinegar in bottle and pour the mixture onto the stain. The chemical reaction will cause the stain to soften. Use fresh towels to dry up the stain that should have softened with the vinegar mix.
3. After steps 1 and 2, pour baking soda on the stain and leave for a few minutes. Baking soda is a great tool when dealing with stains and especially odour because of its antiseptic elements.
4. Last but not least, once the baking soda has settled, mix hydrogen peroxide and a little detergent in a bottle and mix. Then simply apply this to the stain and leave for 5 minutes to work into the stain. Put on a pair of gloves and with a tissue, blot the stain and extract.
Repeat these steps until you’ve erased the stain and smell.
Note: If you’re unsure of these procedures, get a professional carpet cleaner to look at the stain before attemting to remove it yourself.
